last week coen and jenni flew down to medford to visit our favs, and go to grandma mary’s memorial. coen was lucky to spend so much time with his great grandparents. he is 5 months old now (eek!) and weighing in at a whopping 21 pounds and starting to wear some 12 month clothes! great grandma calls him “paul bunyan” –she could very well be right! he is getting to be very aware of what is going on around him. in the week we were gone he did so many new things, including; toes in the mouth, rolling front to back and lip smacking. we had a great time, but both missed daddy terribly!

that’s right, today coen became a back to front roller! of course, he did it the first time while mama was at the store. but to her excitement he showed off his new skill again this afternoon…luckily i had my camera ready!

we spent this last weekend down visiting friends in portland. boy was it a busy couple of days…all 3 of us walked in honor of Owen Daniel, (the son of Wes’ friend Chris) of at the Forever in Our Hearts Memorial Walk. We attended the Cascade Volcano Observatory’s (wes’ future employer) annual PIG-nic (yes, they roasted a big, and it was good!). Mike and Shanny just bought a house, and we all celebrated and camped out there! on our way home this afternoon coen had his very first “McMenamin’s” experience at the Olympic Club. it was so great to catch up and see everyone!

we just went in for coen’s 4 month check up and it is official, he is HUGE! coen weighs 18.8 pounds and is 26.5 inches long. that means he has gained over 10 pounds since he was born, and grown 6 whole inches….geesh! across the board he is in the 95+ %. the dr gave us the okay to try solids, and he wasn’t sure what to think. oh, and he is working on cutting his 2 bottom teeth!

well, 18 days and 4 states later, we have made it home from our big road trip! coen did GREAT in the car and had a blast meeting all kinds of new people. we ended our time in reno visiting the funke’s. it was so good to see them, (beth and jake were in our wedding…boy they have gotten SO big!) then we spent a few days in medford. coen played with great grammie and gramps, swam in a big pool with nana, and played in all of papa johns toys. we also had a huge thunderstorm, it poured ice cubes the size of quarters! (i’m not kidding, look at the picture!) coen slept through the whole thing! we had a great trip and enjoyed seeing everyone. now, on to the massive pile of laundry!

after our week at the beach we came back up to truckee to hang out for a few days. coen had a great time with his grandparents, hiking, playing and even sitting through a nice dinner without making a peep! (although i’m not sure we will test our luck with that again soon!). we got to show coen off to some old friends, and even meet their new bundles! we were blessed to have such a good time catching up with everyone and look forward to seeing you all again soon!

well, we have survived the first week of our road trip to california! week one took us to stinson beach, where coen met lots of new people. then we drove through sacromento and showed coen off to his great grandparents, and now we are relaxing in truckee for a few days! enjoy these pictures of our fun family vacation!
